HOW TO USE THE BAGEL-AIDE®
TO MAKE A PERFECT SLICE

  1. Set the adjustable tray to the desired thickness by aligning the tray slots with the indicator line on the inner wall of the BAGEL-AIDE ®. The stair- stepped design on top of the tray gives you a visual representation of the approximate thickness of the slice.

  2. Place the bagel on the tray

  3. Close the cover and press lightly down on the palm rest to hold the bagel in place. Keep your entire hand on top of the cover. Do not curve your fingers down over the edge. See, Tips and Techniques - No.3

  4. Place the blade of the knife flat on the surface of the protruding rim on the front of the BAGEL-AIDE ® and guide the knife blade into the cutting slot.

The cover is raised in picture for illustration purposes. During normal use the cover should be lowered before inserting knife.

  5. Now, simply cut through the bagel using short, rapid cutting strokes. (one to two inches)

  6. Remove the knife, lift the cover and tilt it back to remove your perfectly sliced bagel. If you want multiple thin slices from a single bagel merely repeat the process.

TIPS AND TECHNIQUES

Many of these tips you would eventually figure out yourself with normal use. We include them here merely to accelerate your enjoyment of the BAGEL-AIDE.®

  1. When raising the lid, lift straight up first, then tilt back. If you encounter any resistance, simply grab the base of the unit with one hand and use your other hand to lift the cover. With use, the lid mechanism will smooth out considerably.

  2. Remember, don't press down too hard on the cover. You only need to use enough force to gently but firmly hold the bagel in place. You don't need to try to push the bagel and the BAGEL-AIDE® through the countertop. Excessive pressure traps the knife blade. (Croissant, rolls, breads, etc., require even less pressure).

  3. When pressing the lid down, place the ball your thumb in one of the depressions and your fingers in the other. This properly positions your hand for stability while slicing and keeps your fingers away from the knife for added safety. holding the lid

  4. When placing the tray into the BAGEL-AIDE®, tilt it down in front and under the tab which stops the cover from entering the path of the knife.

  5. When cutting, use short, rapid strokes and let the knife do its job. As you experiment with different types of bagels, croissants, rolls, etc., you will develop your own feel and technique.
